Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about CopyrightChains v9.2

General Questions

What is CopyrightChains v9.2?

CopyrightChains v9.2 is a blockchain-based copyright management system for musical works and recordings. It automates royalty distribution, creates legal entities, and manages rights through smart contracts on a private permissioned network (Chain ID 1199).

Do I need SempreID to use CopyrightChains?

Yes, SempreID is MANDATORY. Without SempreID verification, you cannot access any CopyrightChains services. It's the authentication gateway for the entire platform.

What is the difference between a musical work and a recording?

A musical work is the underlying composition (melody, harmony, lyrics). A recording is a specific performance of that work. You must register the musical work first, then link recordings to it.

What does "ADMIN-ONLY pattern" mean?

Users never sign blockchain transactions themselves. The admin wallet signs all transactions on your behalf. This means you never expose your private keys and pay zero gas fees.

Royalty Questions

What is the 16/84 royalty split?

16% of royalties go to musical work creators (composers and lyricists), 84% go to recording creators (performers and producers). This split is enforced automatically by smart contracts.

How do I receive royalties?

Royalties are automatically distributed to your wallet address when payments are made. The RoyaltyDistributorV9 smart contract handles all distributions instantly with zero fees.

Can I change the royalty split?

No, the 16/84 split is hardcoded in the smart contract and cannot be changed. This ensures fairness and consistency across all registrations.

Technical Questions

What blockchain does CopyrightChains use?

CopyrightChains runs on Chain ID 1199, a private permissioned blockchain using Power-of-Content (PoC) consensus. It's NOT a public blockchain.

Do I pay gas fees?

No, users pay zero gas fees. The admin wallet covers all transaction costs. You only need a wallet to receive royalties and copyright tokens.

What are copyright tokens?

ERC-20 tokens representing fractional ownership of a copyright. Each work gets 1,000,000 tokens created automatically. They can be traded and royalties follow token ownership.

What is the WhiteBox system?

The WhiteBox handles orphaned works (unknown ownership). Royalties accumulate until legitimate owners provide proof and claim them through the investigation module.

Registration Questions

In what order should I register?

Always register musical works FIRST, then recordings. Recordings must link to an existing musical work - you cannot register a recording without a parent work.

Can I register multiple recordings for one musical work?

Yes! One musical work can have multiple recordings. For example, the same song with different performers or arrangements.

What is Wyoming Series LLC?

Each copyright automatically gets its own Wyoming Series LLC legal entity. This provides asset protection, tax efficiency, and professional structure. Creation is automatic - no manual filing needed.
