Wallet Security
Protect your identity and assets
Protecting Your Wallet
Your wallet is the key to your SempreID and all connected services. Follow these essential security practices:
Password Protection
- Use a strong, unique password (12+ characters, mix of letters, numbers, symbols)
- Never reuse passwords from other sites
- Never share your password with anyone
- Change password immediately if you suspect compromise
Recovery Phrase Security (CRITICAL)
Your 12-word recovery phrase is the master key to your wallet:
Essential Rules
- DO: Write on paper with pen/pencil only
- DO: Store in safe, secure location (locked drawer/safe)
- DO: Make multiple copies in different locations
NEVER DO THIS
- NEVER type recovery phrase on any device
- NEVER photograph recovery phrase
- NEVER share with anyone for any reason
- NEVER enter on any website (except when recovering wallet)
- Support NEVER asks for recovery phrase - this is ALWAYS a scam
If you lose password: Recover wallet with recovery phrase
If you lose both: Access is lost permanently - no one can help
Device Security
- Keep devices updated with latest security patches
- Use antivirus/anti-malware software
- Avoid public computers for wallet access
- Lock devices when not in use
- Use secure, private internet connections
Recognizing Scams
Cryptocurrency scams are common. Learn to identify and avoid them:
Phishing Websites
What it is: Fake websites that mimic real sites to capture passwords and recovery phrases.
How to protect yourself:
- Always verify website URLs carefully
- Bookmark https://sempreid.copyrightchains.com
- Access only through your bookmark
- Check for SSL certificate (lock icon in browser)
- Be suspicious of links in emails or messages
Fake Support Scams
What it is: Scammers pretending to be support staff to steal access to your wallet.
Remember
- Real support NEVER asks for passwords or recovery phrases
- MetaMask support never contacts users directly
- Legitimate support only provides guidance, never asks for credentials
Airdrop Scams
What it is: Promises of free tokens for connecting to suspicious websites.
How to protect yourself:
- Never connect to unfamiliar websites
- Be skeptical of "free token" offers
- Verify legitimacy through official channels
- If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is
Social Media Impersonation
What it is: Fake accounts pretending to be official SempreID or CopyrightChains.
How to protect yourself:
- Verify communications through official website only
- Check for verified badges on social accounts
- Never click links from unverified accounts
- Report suspicious accounts
