Buying NUT Tokens
Complete guide to purchasing NUT tokens with USD pricing and flexible payments
Before You Start
Requirements
- MetaMask wallet installed and configured
- SempreID verification completed
- Payment tokens (CCUSD or CCEU) in your wallet on Hoodi Testnet
- Sufficient gas fees (native tokens) on Hoodi Testnet
Step-by-Step Buying Process
Navigate to the Buy Page
After connecting your wallet, click on "Buy NUT" in the navigation menu. You'll see a list of all active sell listings from other users.
Browse Available Listings
Each listing shows:
- Seller's wallet address and reputation
- Amount of NUT available
- Price in USD (e.g., $1.50 per NUT)
- Total cost in USD (auto-calculated)
- Seller's accepted payment networks
USD Pricing: All listings are priced in USD for clarity. When you purchase, you'll select which stablecoin to use (CCUSD or CCEU) at checkout - both are valued at 1:1 USD ratio.
Select a Listing
Click on a listing that meets your needs. Consider the price, available amount, and seller's reputation. The purchase modal will open with detailed information.
Enter Purchase Amount
In the purchase modal:
- Enter the amount of NUT you want to buy
- The total cost will be calculated automatically
- Verify the amount is within the listing's min/max limits
- Check that you have sufficient payment tokens
Select Payment Method & Stablecoin
Choose how you want to pay:
- Select the payment network (Hoodi Testnet is current option)
- Choose your preferred stablecoin:
- CCUSD: USD-pegged stablecoin
- CCEU: EUR-pegged stablecoin (converts to USD at 1:1 for this platform)
- Verify you have sufficient balance in your chosen stablecoin
Flexibility: Both stablecoins have the same value on the platform (1:1 USD ratio). Choose based on which you have available in your wallet.
Approve Payment Token Spending
Before the purchase, you need to approve the smart contract to spend your selected stablecoin:
- Click "Approve Spending"
- MetaMask will prompt you to approve the transaction
- Review the approval amount and confirm
- Wait for the approval transaction to be confirmed on-chain (~12 seconds)
Note: This is a one-time approval per stablecoin. You won't need to approve again for future purchases with the same stablecoin.
Confirm Purchase
After approval is complete:
- Click "Confirm Purchase"
- Review the transaction details in MetaMask
- Confirm the transaction
- Wait for the purchase to be processed on-chain (~12 seconds)
Purchase Complete
Once the transaction is confirmed:
- NUT tokens will appear in your wallet
- Payment tokens will be transferred to the seller
- Transaction will be recorded in your Transaction History
- Your balance will update automatically
Understanding Pricing
USD-Based Pricing
All listings show prices in USD (e.g., $1.50 per NUT). This ensures consistency and clarity. The total cost is calculated by multiplying the USD price by the amount you want to buy.
Flexible Payment Options
Even though prices are in USD, you can pay with either CCUSD or CCEU stablecoins. Both are valued at 1:1 USD ratio on the platform, so you can choose based on which one you have available.
What You See vs. What You Pay
Listing shows: "$1.50 per NUT"
You can pay with: CCUSD or CCEU (both equal to $1.50)
100 NUT total cost: $150 worth of either stablecoin
Partial Purchases
You don't need to buy the entire listing. You can purchase any amount within the seller's limits:
- Listing with 1000 NUT? You can buy 100, 500, or any amount
- Listing stays active until all tokens are sold
- Multiple buyers can purchase from the same listing
- Available amount updates in real-time as purchases occur
Transaction Fees & Costs
When buying NUT tokens, you'll pay:
Gas Fees (on Hoodi Testnet)
Approval: ~0.002 ETH (~$0.30)
Purchase: ~0.002 ETH (~$0.30)
Total Gas: ~0.004 ETH (~$0.60)
Keep 0.01+ ETH in your Hoodi wallet for transactions.
Purchase Price
The amount you pay for the NUT tokens (price per token × quantity in CCUSD or CCEU). This goes directly to the seller.
No Platform Fee
The OTC Platform currently charges 0% commission. You only pay the actual stablecoin amount for the tokens and blockchain gas fees.
Important Tips
- Double-check everything: Verify the price, amount, and payment method before confirming
- Check seller reputation: Review the seller's transaction history and reputation score
- Have enough gas: Keep 0.01+ ETH on Hoodi Testnet for gas fees (only for buying, not for listing)
- Be patient: Blockchain transactions take time to confirm - don't refresh or close the page
- Save transaction hashes: Keep records of your transactions for reference
After Your Purchase
Once your purchase is complete:
View in Transaction History
Check your Transactions page to see the complete purchase record with blockchain transaction hash.
Check Your Wallet
NUT tokens will appear in your MetaMask wallet. You may need to add the NUT token contract to see the balance.
Dashboard Updates
Your dashboard will automatically update to reflect your new NUT balance and purchase statistics.
Verify on Blockchain
Use the transaction hash to verify your purchase on the Hoodi Testnet block explorer.
