Common issues and solutions for the OTC Platform

Overview

This guide covers the most common issues users encounter on the OTC Platform and provides step-by-step solutions. If your issue isn't covered here, please contact support.

Connection & Network Issues

"Cannot connect wallet" or "Connection Failed"

Possible Causes:

  • MetaMask not installed
  • Browser blocking popup windows
  • MetaMask locked
  • Wrong network selected

Solutions:

  1. Verify MetaMask extension is installed and enabled
  2. Unlock MetaMask by entering your password
  3. Check if browser is blocking popups - allow for OTC domain
  4. Refresh the page and try connecting again
  5. Try a different browser (Chrome, Firefox, Brave)

"Wrong Network" or "Please switch to CopyrightChains"

Solution:

  1. Open MetaMask
  2. Click the network dropdown at the top
  3. Select "CopyrightChains"
  4. If not listed, you need to add the network first
  5. See Wallet Setup Guide for network details

"Network RPC Error" or "Failed to fetch"

Possible Causes:

  • Network congestion
  • RPC endpoint temporarily down
  • Internet connection issues

Solutions:

  1. Check your internet connection
  2. Wait a few moments and try again
  3. Switch to a different RPC endpoint if available
  4. Clear browser cache and refresh

Transaction Issues

"Transaction Failed" or "Reverted"

Common Causes:

  • Insufficient balance for gas fees
  • Token approval not granted
  • Trying to buy/sell more than available
  • Order already filled by someone else
  • Gas limit too low

Solutions:

  1. Check balances: Ensure you have enough tokens AND gas
  2. Approve tokens: Complete token approval transaction first
  3. Refresh listings: Order might be filled - reload the page
  4. Increase gas: Try setting gas limit manually to 300,000
  5. Check error message: MetaMask shows specific reason for failure

"Insufficient Funds" Error

For Buying:

  1. Verify you have enough payment tokens (CCUSD or CCEU) on Hoodi Testnet
  2. Check you have at least 0.01 ETH on Hoodi Testnet for gas fees
  3. Ensure you're on the correct network when checking balance

For Selling (Creating Listings - FREE):

  1. Verify you have enough NUT tokens on CopyrightChains network
  2. Listing creation is FREE (uses EIP-712 signatures, no gas)
  3. Confirm you're looking at the CopyrightChains network balance

"Transaction Pending" for Too Long

Solutions:

  1. Wait: Network might be congested - can take 5-10 minutes
  2. Check status: View transaction in block explorer
  3. Speed up: Use MetaMask "Speed Up" feature (costs more gas)
  4. Cancel: Use MetaMask "Cancel" feature if stuck too long
  5. Avoid duplicates: Don't submit same transaction multiple times

"Nonce Too Low" or "Replacement Transaction Underpriced"

Solution:

  1. Open MetaMask Settings
  2. Go to Advanced
  3. Click "Reset Account"
  4. This clears transaction history (funds are safe)
  5. Try transaction again

SempreID Issues

"SempreID Required" or "No SempreID Found"

This means you haven't completed verification:

  1. Visit SempreID.com
  2. Connect your wallet
  3. Complete the verification process
  4. Receive your SempreID soulbound token
  5. Return to OTC Platform and reconnect wallet

Note: SempreID is mandatory. The platform will not function without it.

"SempreID Verification Pending"

Your verification is being processed:

  1. Check your email for verification status
  2. Verification typically takes 24-48 hours
  3. You cannot use the platform until verification is complete
  4. Contact SempreID support if pending for more than 72 hours

Token & Balance Issues

"Token Balance Not Showing" in MetaMask

Solutions:

  1. Check network: Ensure you're on the correct network
    • NUT tokens: CopyrightChains network
    • CCUSD/CCEU: Hoodi Testnet
  2. Import token: Token might not be added to MetaMask
  3. Refresh: Click the refresh icon in MetaMask
  4. Verify in explorer: Check balance on block explorer

"Tokens Missing After Transaction"

Don't panic - tokens are likely safe:

  1. Check transaction status in block explorer
  2. If successful: tokens are in escrow or transferred
  3. If failed: tokens are returned to your wallet
  4. Refresh MetaMask to update balance
  5. Check "My Orders" - tokens might be in active order
  6. Verify you're looking at the correct network and address

Interface & Display Issues

"Orders Not Loading" or "Blank Page"

Solutions:

  1. Hard refresh the page (Ctrl+Shift+R or Cmd+Shift+R)
  2. Clear browser cache and cookies
  3. Disable browser extensions (except MetaMask)
  4. Try incognito/private mode
  5. Try a different browser
  6. Check your internet connection

"Prices Not Updating" or "Stale Data"

Solutions:

  1. Refresh the page
  2. Check your internet connection
  3. Verify you're on the correct network
  4. Clear browser cache if problem persists

"Can't Click Buttons" or "Buttons Not Working"

Possible Causes:

  • JavaScript disabled in browser
  • Browser extension conflicts
  • Page not fully loaded

Solutions:

  1. Enable JavaScript in browser settings
  2. Disable ad blockers for the OTC domain
  3. Wait for page to fully load (check for loading indicators)
  4. Try different browser

Security Concerns

"Suspicious Transaction Request"

If MetaMask shows unexpected transaction:

  • DO NOT CONFIRM if you don't recognize it
  • Verify the contract address matches official OTC contracts
  • Check the website URL is correct
  • When in doubt, reject and contact support

"Think Your Wallet is Compromised?"

Immediate Actions:

  1. STOP: Don't make any more transactions
  2. Create new wallet: Set up fresh MetaMask wallet
  3. Transfer funds: Move assets to new wallet ASAP
  4. Revoke approvals: Use tools like Revoke.cash to revoke token approvals
  5. Never use old wallet: Consider it permanently compromised
  6. Report: Contact support and report the incident

USD Pricing & EIP-712 Listing Issues

"Signature Request Rejected" When Creating Listing

This means you clicked "Reject" in MetaMask:

  1. Click "Create Listing" again
  2. MetaMask will show "Sign Message"
  3. Review the message details (shows your listing amount and price)
  4. Click "Sign" this time (it's FREE, no gas costs)
  5. Listing will be created instantly

"Message Signature Verification Failed"

This usually means you're on the wrong network:

  1. Check that MetaMask is set to CopyrightChains (Chain 1199)
  2. If wrong network, switch to CopyrightChains in MetaMask dropdown
  3. Try creating the listing again
  4. The signature must be made on CopyrightChains network

"How Do I Know What Price to Set?"

Understanding USD Pricing:

  1. All prices are in USD: You set a price like "$1.50 per NUT"
  2. Buyers choose payment: They pick CCUSD or CCEU at checkout (both 1:1 USD)
  3. Check market: Look at current listings to see pricing trends
  4. Example: If you set "$1.50", buyer can pay 1.50 CCUSD or 1.50 CCEU
  5. Universal: USD pricing is clear and internationally understood

"My Listing is FREE to Create - Really?"

Yes! Using EIP-712 signatures:

  1. Listing creation costs ZERO gas fees
  2. You sign a message (not a blockchain transaction)
  3. Completely free and takes 1-2 seconds
  4. This is better than old smart contract based listings
  5. Only buying NUT costs gas (on Hoodi Testnet)
